LAST YEAR’S MODEL

Found at Last! [:|]

Remember the ethereal & dreamy yet electronic yet classical amazing first song of the Tank party? I was sad that I would never hear it again. Fortunately, Shaun Bateman from resonator mag is all over the internet talking about music, writing, NYC, USPS, etc., and he wrote about the party & mentioned the song! The magic song is called “Passport” by the electronica/pop/classical group tealights (myspace)! I hope you like it as much as I do! Please don’t judge me poorly if you don’t ^_^

p.s. See you Saturday at Europa right?

p.p.s. Did you know there are SECRET emoticons on gmail chat!? And one of them is a robot!? [:|] YESSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!

p.p.p.s. Ok, I tweeted this already, but the background on this website is *almost* as awesome as the robot. WHICH IS REALLY AWESOME! You have to see it! It’s like it was made by Lisa Frank’s older fortune-telling cousin from the future on drugs! I think it should be a theme park! (via kmyles)

Agenda of the Future

The video art at the Tank show made us feel pretty special on stage, but if this were playing during our set, I’d have to break the frozen form & bounce around like Little Big Planet sack person:

So pretty! It’s a good thing I wouldn’t be able to watch the video while we play.

One day we will have neat video backgrounds as a regular part of our show. But first we are trying to have shows more regularly. There’s one in the works for June at the Annex with The Drums and we’re waitlisted to play at Punk Island (also in June, looks super fun, over 70 [!] bands).

“But what will you be doing for the rest of April & all of May?”

MODELs Plan to Visit New York Meets Japan!

New York Meets Japan

New York meets Japan

I have been receiving many, many inquiries regarding the time & location of the next LAST YEAR’S MODEL show. Honestly [literally?], I do not know. We are checking out venues for Make Music NY!, but that’s not happening til late June.

So please tell us, where do you like to see shows and dance and party? We want to go where you are! We want to see you in your natural habitat! Do you think they would let us in? What other bands do you like? Maybe we could set up a show together! Yes! We would do that, just for you, just for telling us what you like! I’ll even buy you a beer!

Until then, we are going to see J’aime and I at New York meets Japan! There are 4 other bands: NoirceuR, Le-aKt’z Isora, Geist, and Echostream. You should come dance with us! There are so many reasons why:

  1. J’aime and I has the best songs and the best bear head!
  2. NoirceuR has a song called “Sleeping with Cigarette on Sweet16 night” that’s nice.
  3. Le-ak’tz Isora looks really intense in their smoking photos & they make Japanese sound like Cantonese (to me)!
  4. Echostream has a very insightful song called “One Last Cigarette”.
  5. Geist has a song called “Sadism”, which is not self-destructive or smokey, but close enough.

Also, all of the bands have advanced hair! Aaaand, Kinokuniya (-001’s source for the best comic books ever!) is one of the party sponsors! I hope they will be giving away stickers with cute animals on them!

Details: Saturday May 2, 6pm @ Club Europa (98 Meserole Ave, Brooklyn, near the Lorimer stop)

Remember: Smoking is bad! Quitting really sucks! Totally not worth all the nicotine-happy-feelings! At all!

Inspiring Music Videos!

Dan, Will, Evan and Chip are now editing the video that they took on Saturday! It’s great, it looks just like we’re on stage, playing a show! Except you can see everyone’s face up much closer than normal!

Untitled from dan fridman on Vimeo.

Um… I’m not in the video very much (@Evan&Chip&Dan&Will: THANK YOU!!! <3), but I couldn’t help but notice how comatose (yet grumpy!) I look on stage. So glad we’re not famous yet! J/K. Sort of. I think I should be allowed to wear safety gear like -004. -004 looks cool! I could wear one of those shield things that welders wear. A polarized one. And have a drum throne. I would totally look more relaxed if I were sitting down. Please just consider it, other MODELs.

In the meantime, I have been studying the composure of the band below. -001 might argue that Polysics has a better aesthetic, but this band (”Wild Eyes?”) looks SO HAPPY. (Er, it’s better to watch it with the sound off.)

I would like to be a cross between the drummer and the leaping dancers.

This other video is less inspiring, but they have no qualms about wearing plastic-shorts-disguised as a plastic ruffly skirt. ^_^

Resonator Party Pics (Part 2)

Man, uploading videos to YouTube is slow…

Here are some pictures of shoes that uploaded faster!

Shoelace buddies!

Shoelace buddies!

-003 was all stressed before the show because his shoelace had snapped & there were none to be found in the many tiny shoestores all over the place in Midtown. And I was stressed out by all the pink & blue shoelaces sticking out of my amazing lightning-bolt sneakers. It was like my sneakers had a ponytail! So I let -003 have the pink laces. And now our shoes will be friends forever!

(I know, the white pumps won in the poll. I wore white kitten heels for the show & will continue the hunt.)

Sparkle toes!

Sparkle toes!

-001 also got new custom-painted shoes from “the shoe guy” in “the East Village”. So pretty!

There are no updates regarding -004’s shoes.

LET’S WATCH VIDEOS!!!

Resonator Party Pics! (Part 1)

I am so tired today, how are you? Thank you so much for coming out to The Tank last night (especially on the night before Easter & Passover)! We hope you had fun and got to eat a cupcake or two – they were tiny but packed with allergen-free tastiness (from Babycakes).

Here are some pretty photos from the show:

  1. MODEL-001 and cameraman (browse backwards/left to see more!) (thanks cuttlefish!)
  2. A whole LYM set! (thanks gmt!)

By the way, did you see the cool guys with cameras on stage? They were wearing all black, so you might not have noticed them, but that was Evan, Dan, Chip & Will! They are the best, they worked all afternoon to set up the mics & cameras. Soon we will have neat live show videos that will look 1,000,000 times better than the ones I’m going to post online later (tomorrow)! Thanks guys!!!

You may have also noticed that our costumes looked totally different & more amazing than usual. We would like to thank Janice for her great designs, her large collection of glues & makeup, and all the time she spent on making our costumes (and shopping w/me)!

Happy Easter / Passover / Sunday! Don’t forget to stock up on Passover Coke! With Real Sugar!!!

Follow the Tweet!

MODEL-001 is propelling the band into new online social realms! A magical world of limited characters that prevents people from rambling on for sentences and sentences. Yes, we are on Twitter! Just like Obama! (Yes, that was in 2008 but our tweets are more recent & fresh ^_^)

Anyway, we’ll twitter-friend-follow-you if you follow us?

(@Barrack: I hope Kal Penn can help you get back up to speed.)

MODEL Sighting @ Southpaw!

The Ex Humans @ Southpaw

The Ex Humans @ Southpaw

Did you see The Queers & The Ex Humans on Sunday at Southpaw? -001, -003, and I did! The Last King of England was there too (he was responsible for the outing), and Mr. -002 was also there!

The Ex Humans were really good: they have super short, punchy songs. (Even shorter than our songs.) And their drummer is shirtless! There are better pictures of the show here on kustomkitten’s flickr page.

And The Queers were great also. They were like THREE bands in one! [The Queers.1] At first it was just 3 guys, with Joe singing while playing the guitar. The songs were a little softer and more melodic than The Ex Humans. Pretty catchy. [The Queers.2] Then some other guitarist came on stage and Joe just sang. The sound was similar. The Last King O.E. & the rest of the audience bounced along happily and occasionally yelled out lyrics while raising a fist (or a middle finger). .

A Devil You Can Believe In!

This particular devil has a strange thing for tuna, which we will overlook, because he has good taste in independent music and wrote this about us:

They sound like Devo locked in a lift with XTC and Kraftwerk on speed, have a “singer” who yelps like a howler monkey being poked with a stick and look like they’ve had an accident with the wardrobe designer for The Buggles.

Check out that sentence structure! And he even embedded our campaign video into his review! ^_^!!!

Please take a look at his blog, besttuna, for more comma-craziness & entertaining, yet accurate, descriptions of other bands! And lots of music samples! w000000t!

Also, I have heard that there are others who are similarly concerned that -001 doesn’t “sing anymore”. Well, you are in for a treat this Saturday (at the Tank, remember?)! In the new version of “I Need More FX”, -001 holds a note for at least 4 counts! It’s great! I mean, totes brills!

ONE LAST THING! ONE NEW BEAT!
