LAST YEAR'S MODEL

We’ll be playing at Lit Lounge with R Sun (all the way from the SCARIEST PLACE in IOWA yo!), Rig 1 (“experimental” yet familiar & danceable!), and Doctor Scientist (they will make you jump around harder than Jillian Michaels!). We’re going on last, more deets to come.

I can’t even begin to explain how very excited we are. I haven’t been to Lit in years! In preparation, we’ve been working really hard on some new rhythms & techniques! Here is some secret footage!

Doesn’t the synergy make your skin tingle? Now you know: we are amazing even when we’re rehearsing. The only thing that could make us better is another keyboardist! Where are you???

Do you remember the excellent New Wave band Elkland (their debut album was Golden in 2005)? They don’t exist anymore, but the lead singer, Jon Pierce, started a new band called The Drums, that is also pretty excellent. They will be playing at The Annex every Wednesday in June. And we will be playing with them on the second Wednesday!

Did you go to Europa on Saturday? Wasn’t it amazing? I saw a side of J’aime & I that I had never seen before!

And look at how badass Disco is! He’s standing on the kickdrum with both feet! And he can’t even see!

Please buy some more copies of New Wave of Attack Mode Pop so I can buy a DV camera… ^_^ j/k, soon we will have different things for you to buy, through the internet, so you don’t even have to go to one of our shows! Think of all the money & calories you will save on alcohol!

New York meets Japan

I have been receiving many, many inquiries regarding the time & location of the next LAST YEAR’S MODEL show. Honestly [literally?], I do not know. We are checking out venues for Make Music NY!, but that’s not happening til late June.

So please tell us, where do you like to see shows and dance and party? We want to go where you are! We want to see you in your natural habitat! Do you think they would let us in? What other bands do you like? Maybe we could set up a show together! Yes! We would do that, just for you, just for telling us what you like! I’ll even buy you a beer!

Until then, we are going to see J’aime and I at New York meets Japan! There are 4 other bands: NoirceuR, Le-aKt’z Isora, Geist, and Echostream. You should come dance with us! There are so many reasons why:

1. J’aime and I has the best songs and the best bear head!
2. NoirceuR has a song called “Sleeping with Cigarette on Sweet16 night” that’s nice.
3. Le-ak’tz Isora looks really intense in their smoking photos & they make Japanese sound like Cantonese (to me)!
4. Echostream has a very insightful song called “One Last Cigarette”.
5. Geist has a song called “Sadism”, which is not self-destructive or smokey, but close enough.

Also, all of the bands have advanced hair! Aaaand, Kinokuniya (-001’s source for the best comic books ever!) is one of the party sponsors! I hope they will be giving away stickers with cute animals on them!

Shoelace buddies!

-003 was all stressed before the show because his shoelace had snapped & there were none to be found in the many tiny shoestores all over the place in Midtown. And I was stressed out by all the pink & blue shoelaces sticking out of my amazing lightning-bolt sneakers. It was like my sneakers had a ponytail! So I let -003 have the pink laces. And now our shoes will be friends forever!

(I know, the white pumps won in the poll. I wore white kitten heels for the show & will continue the hunt.)

-001 also got new custom-painted shoes from “the shoe guy” in “the East Village”. So pretty!

There are no updates regarding -004’s shoes.

I am so tired today, how are you? Thank you so much for coming out to The Tank last night (especially on the night before Easter & Passover)! We hope you had fun and got to eat a cupcake or two – they were tiny but packed with allergen-free tastiness (from Babycakes).

By the way, did you see the cool guys with cameras on stage? They were wearing all black, so you might not have noticed them, but that was Evan, Dan, Chip & Will! They are the best, they worked all afternoon to set up the mics & cameras. Soon we will have neat live show videos that will look 1,000,000 times better than the ones I’m going to post online later (tomorrow)! Thanks guys!!!

You may have also noticed that our costumes looked totally different & more amazing than usual. We would like to thank Janice for her great designs, her large collection of glues & makeup, and all the time she spent on making our costumes (and shopping w/me)!

Thanks for coming to the show at Fontana’s!! We had so much fun! If you would like to relive tiny bits of the show before our set in really spotty video, you have come to the right place!

First was this band, I can’t remember their name or find it anywhere, but they were great. Maybe they were called Stranded in Stereo? They were called Crooked Looks! (Thanks for remembering 004!) The lead singer was very passionate & banged the microphone stand on the floor a lot. He was also good at wolf-whistling and the drummer had some pretty cool dance moves that involved other people’s purses! (That was during the Hank & Cupcakes set.)

SHOW ME MORE!!!

Hi!!!  Did you attend Death By Audio 12.12?!?!  SO MANY PEOPLE WERE THERE!!  It was totes awwwwwesome!!!  So I would like to show you all about it if you were not there.  And if you were, THANKS X A MILLION!!  We had many new songs and it was really the best that everybody was dancing.  I wish we had video of crowd dance moves…

There were so many rad things about this show.  It had so many bands!!!  We played with Popo, Hermit Thrushes, J’aime & I, Anamanaguchi and The Mae Shi.  We have wanted to play a show with Anamanaguchi for a long time and so it was very exciting to play with them finally.  Also, J’aime & I performed like never before and it was such a great night for everyone!!!  So I hope you we there to enjoy it.  And we had new ties.  Here are pictures!!!  Taken by Model 000 (Evan Cairo), of course!!!  SEE YOU NEXT YEAR!!!  <3 <3 <3 MODEL 001
